20231006 I haven't visited since covid. They will have all the plastic dividers up. Some of the pets were surrendered by owners 😭. The staffs at the counter doesn't say much. The lady who attends to the cat room was very nice. Even if you are not looking or can't adopt, it's nice to spend some time here with the pups. …
I loved adopting from this shelter! I adopted my cat DD from her last May, and it was a smooth, easy experience. It was obvious how all of the employees I came in contact with care about their jobs and the animals. Everyone I spoke to were very informative and appreciative that I was adopting an “office cat”. They told me that cats that they have to place in an office to socialize are usually hard to get adopted, but I fell in love with my girl even more after meeting her in person. They were all fantastic people and the woman who helped me meet DD was so gentle and even told me some little details that she knew about DD. I loved visiting this shelter and rescuing my beautiful girl! Thank you!
We adopted our sweet baby Kato yesterday from this shelter. Every staff member was very friendly, caring, and knew a lot of information about the animals. They also provide complimentary vet check and free dog gear - toys, beds, food, etc. a wonderful experience overall and our sweet 4 legged baby is the perfect addition to our family! PS we are first time pet owners!
My boyfriend and I were looking for shelters in Fairfax County, and we came across this one. We looked at their website around August of 2022 to see what dogs they have available and a Siberian husky just over 1 y/o was there. We were very excited and went in person to meet him ASAP. All of the staff members at this shelter were very kind and helpful and answered any questions we had about this dog. We ended up bringing Apollo home, and we are happy that he is now in his forever home! We couldn’t be happier to have adopted from this shelter and we will likely be back in the future when we are seeking another furry friend 🐶 also, I can tell the dogs and other animals are treated very well and with lots of love here.
Great experience adopting a guinea pig from this shelter. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by kind and knowledgeable volunteers. The man in the small animal room worked really well with our 13-year-old, helping her to get to know a guinea pig. The check out process was quick but thorough, with lots of great advice and past history on our new pet. Another nice touch: a well-stocked organized shelf of extra items (food, equipment) from other pet owners. Will definitely check this shelter first, if we need to adopt again.
It's always a pleasure to visit this shelter. The staff is super friendly, their descriptions of animals are unique and as specific as possible. They encourage the adopters to ask questions if in need. So far, we got a crested gecko (Tulip) and a Canaan dog (Bud in 2019) from this wonderful place.
Disgusting. This place will not take animals that you want to give them a better home. They told my significant other Friday 9/22 the rehoming process would be easy all I had to do was email them and explain what was going on. Which I did and they have been giving me hell all to turn around and say they don’t want to take the cat. But they told my significant other on the phone they would. They don’t really care about cats. It’s all a business to them. They claim they are full but there are barely any cats on their website.
We had the best experience at the fairfax animal shelter. Greeted with the kindest welcome and found the bird we wanted to adopt. We were so excited and everyone was so kind to my kids and myself. The process was not bad at all. The woman that helped us through the process was so kind and helpful, they even took time to reach out to me to see how everything was going. I appreciate all of it and so happy we were able to rescue our beautiful green cheek conure Mango❤️ Thank you Fairfax Animal Shelter.
